Currently, there are 7 countries that produce nearly 100% of their electricity from clean or renewable energy sources. These countries are Albania, Bhutan, Nepal, Paraguay, Iceland, Ethiopia, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. They utilize clean energy such as geothermal energy, hydro power, solar power, and wind power. Additionally, there are another 40 countries that produce at least 50% of their electricity from renewable sources since 2021.
In Thailand, according to the International Energy Agency (IEA), the country can generate more than 17% of its electricity from clean or renewable energy sources. Although this figure is not as high as in some other countries, there is a positive trend towards increasing the share of electricity generated from natural energy sources in the future.
Currently, the most popular clean or renewable energy sources is solar power, which is low-cost and easy to implement. It is becoming a major source of energy worldwide and is expected to replace traditional energy sources by 2050.
Another popular clean energy source is wind power, which is commonly found in large countries such as China, the United States, Brazil, and Germany. In 2023 alone, over 116 gigawatts of new wind power capacity were installed globally, indicating a positive trend in the growth of clean or renewable energy sources use worldwide.
